Paradox
Sometimes,
Seeing the same scene over and over
Makes the heart weary.
I don’t want to look at you so much
That I get tired.
If the world were always the same,
Where would its beauty be seen?
It enlivens life with its freshness
And saddens it with its withering.
I want you in this changing hue,
To see you again and again,
Even if it makes me perish.
But, my heart’s desire!
I fear tiring of nature’s wonders.
That’s why I say,
Whatever scene it shows,
Let it be so long
That I continue to yearn for its opposite.
So that I feel this life
Has become harmonious with you,
That on every gesture of yours,
I bow my head in submission,
With every glance of yours,
I am with you.
Considering the care of my desire,
That you are worried and restless for me,
With unseen, priceless treasures of your kindness,
You are searching for me day and night
In your arduous journeys.
But I fear that I may get tired.
